Q&A with director Prasanna Puwanarajah, screenwriter Stacey Gregg and actor Patrick Kielty, moderated by Rex Daugherty, Artistic Director of Theatre at Solas Nua.

The feature directorial debut of actor Prasanna Puwanarajah (recently seen as Martin Bashir in THE CROWN), BALLYWALTER is a life-affirming dramedy about the unexpected connections that can change the course of our lives. Eileen (Seána Kerslake, BAD SISTERS, A DATE FOR MAD MARY) is a caustic, unrepentant university dropout whose dreams of a successful life in London have fallen by the wayside. Back at home with her mom, she makes ends meet by working as an unlicensed driver in her ex-boyfriend's minicab. Shane (stand-up comedian Patrick Kielty, MY DAD, THE PEACE DEAL AND ME) has exiled himself to Ballywalter following the break-up of his marriage, but he's trying to get his life back on track by enrolling in a stand-up comedy course. When Shane calls a taxi to get him to his classes, Eileen answers and a surprising connection is made. As the two spend time together shuttling back and forth, a beautiful friendship develops, leading both to a moment of realization. Note adapted from Bankside Films.) Official Selection, 2022 Belfast and Cork film festivals.

Credits: DIR Prasanna Puwanarajah; SCR Stacey Gregg; PROD James Bierman, Nik Bower. Northern Ireland, 2022, color, 90 min. NOT RATED
