Richard Harris (1930–2002) was a powerful performer on stage and screen who became Ireland's first leading man in Hollywood. In THE GHOST OF RICHARD HARRIS, the actor's three sons, led by Jared Harris (CHERNOBYL, THE CROWN), himself a BAFTA Award-winning actor, try to find out who their father really was without sugar coating the truth about his wild personal and professional lives. Harris was a notorious hellraiser known for excessive drinking, womanizing and riotous behavior. He fought his way across bars on both sides of the Atlantic alongside Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton. However, there was much more to him than that. He was a successful singer who topped the charts with "MacArthur Park," releasing five albums. He was also a published poet who wrote throughout his life. At the center of the film is a complicated man whose character is revealed through tapes, family footage and interviews with those who knew him best, including Russell Crowe, Vanessa Redgrave and Jim Sheridan. (Note adapted from Samson Films.) Official Selection, 2022 Venice Film Festival. Winner, Audience Award, Best Documentary Feature, 2022 Newport Beach Film Festival.
