Inspired by the book "Lost Lives," which records every single death and its circumstances since the beginning of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, this heartfelt documentary is a cinematic homage to the victims from all sides and a poignant testament to the physical and emotional cost of war. Powerfully narrated by famous Irish and Northern Irish actors including Kenneth Branagh, Brendan Gleeson, Roma Downey, Ciarán Hinds, Liam Neeson, Bríd Brennan and Stephen Rea, the film interweaves archival footage with recordings of family and friends responding to the devastating news of the death of loved ones and an elegiac score performed by the Ulster Orchestra. The last entry in the book records the death of Lyra McKee, a promising young journalist who was shot while covering sectarian rioting in Derry in 2019 — an essential reminder that moving toward peace can be a fragile and imperfect process.
