Ireland-based French documentarian Loïc Jourdain's THE TRIBE OF GODS focuses on the people of Tory Island, Ireland's most remote inhabited island, a small rock in the Atlantic Ocean with a fiercely independent Irish-speaking community and its own laws and practices. Central to this unique story is the late Patsy Dan Rodgers (Patsaí Dan Mag Ruaidhrí), the Dublin-born last "king" of Tory Island. When, while undergoing treatment for cancer, Patsy is confronted with the neglect of his community by the Irish government, the king is forced to undertake a new campaign to fight for their right to safe access across the treacherous Tory Sound, the nine sea miles of the North Atlantic Ocean that separates Tory Island from mainland County Donegal.
