We are delighted to announce our inaugural recipients of Show in a Bag are Jordan Brown and Rebecca Ballinger!

Show In A Bag is a newly launched program that offers an opportunity for DMV area performing artists to develop their own solo show with the support of dramaturgs from Solas Nua and Dublin’s Fishamble the New Play Company. We aim to offer performers a vehicle to tell a unique story with a small scale production that they can perform anywhere. At the end of this process, artists will have a complete solo script to produce and perform themselves with little to no physical production elements (limited to what can fit in a bag!).

Rebecca Ballinger

Rebecca Ballinger is a DC-based actor and comedian who has appeared in Solas Nua’s productions of The Playboy of the Western World, The Honey Trap (HHA Nom: Supporting Actor, Ensemble), and Summertime, as well as play readings of Off the Books and Sauce. She has worked with Studio Theatre, Keegan Theatre, 1st Stage, Constellation Theatre, NextStop Theatre, Faction of Fools, Imagination Stage, and Adventure Theatre. Rebecca started writing comedy with the UMD sketch comedy group, Sketchup. Her writing has been published several times for the theatre satire site, Broadway Beat, and awarded first place at the DC Improv comedy club. Rebecca has co-written four comedy shows produced by NextStop Theatre and Creative Cauldron and also co-created the web series Rebecca and Becca in Space, which was awarded a grant by the Mason Arts at Home Fund.
