Two films were named Audience Favorites based on filmgoers’ reviews at the 16th Annual Capital Irish Film Festival last week at the American Film Institute Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD.

Secrets from Putumayo, directed by Aurélio Michiles, a documentary about Roger

Casement's humanitarian efforts in the Amazon, was voted Audience Favorite feature-length film.

Audience Favorite Short Film was The Yellow Dress, director Deborah Grimes, a fictional account of a woman recovering her spirit after breast cancer.

The film festival showed 15 features and 12 short films between March 3 and 6.

Solas Nua’s Capital Irish Film Festival has been showing Irish films, and films by Ireland-based filmmakers annually for 16 years. The four-day festival is based at the historic art-deco AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, MD.
